Meet Pippa
May 9, 2006 · Kitties · Comments (21)

A couple of weeks ago Jeremy had left for work without noticing we wouldn't have enough cat food for overnight. Right now the cats are on a prescription diet that we can only get from the vet, which would be closed by the time he got home. He called them and they suggested he go into a vet near his work and have them call to authorize the food, and he could buy it that way. So he did. The vet downtown happened to have kittens for adoption, and Jeremy stupidly told me that.

The next day I sent him back to the vet with our camera. That's where this photo came from. The next day Jeremy went in to adopt her, and she came home on Thursday. She's 8 weeks old.

Meet Pippa.

I LOVE HER! She is sweeeet! That picture where she's sleeping on Jeremy's shoulder is just too cute.
How do the others treat her? Are they used to each other already?

That is the cutest fucking thing i've seen. You've made my day so much better! I LOVE the name Pippa!!! Funny, cuz I told Jay that when we adopt another kitten, her name will be Poppy!

sandra · May 9 · 1:19 PM

I agree. Cutest fucking kitten ever, man.

Jason · May 9 · 2:09 PM

SO INCREDIBLY CUTE!! Lovin the kitty mojo picture.

We have the same scratching post, that blue and cream sisal one.

Soosan · May 9 · 2:32 PM

Isn't she just the sweetest thing ever? She's extremely affectionate, too. As soon as she gets in the remote proximity of a human, she revs up the purring engine. She was bottle fed for a few weeks when she was first brought to the vet I adopted her from and it obviously made her love people.

enjoy her while she's that small. i miss the fact that i can't pick mine up with one hand anymore. i so miss the fluffy kitten fur, so soft and delish!

sandra · May 9 · 2:56 PM

I want to poke her nose.

Sandra did you ever see that SNL commercial for this service that replaced kittens as soon as they turned into cats, with BRAND NEW KITTENS, your kids won't even notice. YAY Kittens!!

Soosan · May 9 · 3:00 PM

well, jay and i refuse to believe our kittens are no longer kittens. we still call them "the kittens", despite the fact that they are well over two. so, in a way, our kittens have never grown up!

sandra · May 9 · 3:18 PM

I love her! I love them all!

freakgirl · May 9 · 3:20 PM

AWE! How cute! Pippa is one lucky kitty!!

Marjon, they aren't the best of friends yet, but I would say they are definitely used to each other. Pippa plays with the others briefly, then keeps her distance when it gets rough. For the first couple of days, Cuba and Jonah were so mad at me, they barely let me touch them. They're back to themselves, although Jonah is very possessive of the stuff in the house, and as soon as Pippa shows an interest, he lets her know the stuff is HIS.

For instance, Jonah has slept in the kitty bed maybe once or twice. He prefers other places so he can stretch out. So I took one of them, made it smaller with a towel so Pippa could snuggle in it. Wouldn't you know it's now Jonah's favourite place to sleep.

She is very attached to us already. She practically lives on my chest.

I'm taking lots of pictures so I will always remember how small she is now. Jonah was 8 months old when he came home, and Cuba, 2 years. Jonah has changed so much already in just 3 months, he's grown and filled out. Cuba was skin and bone when we got her, now she's kind of chubchub. However, since Pippa showed up they both look so big and grown next to her. They looked like kittens to me until I saw Pippa's baby legs and teeny eyes.

oh! she's gorgeous! and her name really seems to suit her (from the photos at least!)

i'm getting kitten fever again, but i can't adopt again for awhile. :(

river selkie · May 9 · 7:55 PM

Soosan, that scratching post was a gift to the cats from a friend. I love it, it's really cute.

RS, I can't adopt again in EVER. :D If I do I'm pretty sure my friends and family will have me committed.

Maggie · May 9 · 9:43 PM

That has to be one of the cutest kittens ever! And I *love* the name! Pippa! Love it!

Jenn · May 9 · 10:49 PM

way too cute maggie!

chelle · May 10 · 12:07 AM

Maggie my friend has a theory about # of cats and level of "crazy". Once you reach 5, that is the official "Crazy Cat Lady" count. The more you know....

Soosan · May 10 · 9:14 AM

Well isn't she the cutest thing! I can't wait to meet her. Ingrid will go nutters with excitement.

*littlestar. · May 10 · 10:02 AM

ashmonkey · May 10 · 12:15 PM
