I couldn’t have asked for a better or longer 30th birthday. I basically spent all week quoting my cake and making people get me coffee and stuff like that. Last week we ate this cake with friends, and last night we ate more cake with family. My mom gave me some $$ which I spent on clothes. I go clothes shopping so infrequently because at my size it’s just depressing but this time I found some great stuff. I mentioned before that we bought the Nikon so I wasn’t really expecting anything from Jeremy, but he surprised me anyway. This is a photo-heavy post so I tossed the rest of the pictures in the extended entry section. Take a look…I even have a couple of knitting photos in there.

Jeremy’s niece turned two on the 21st of March and we forgot. Bastards! I fell in love with this little cardi at the LYS and picked it up for her. I’ve completed the back and I’m almost done the second sleeve. It should be in the mail and on its way to Ottawa by the end of the week.

This is sock #1 using the Cherry Tree Hill yarn I got for 40% off from the Red Bird Knits boxing sale. It’s my first short-row sock. I used Wendy’s sock pattern. I had to do a couple of practice toes to learn how to get the wraps right and the toe looks great. I made a mistake in the heel, though. The side of the heel where I knit the wraps looks great. The side where I purled the wraps looks like there is a bit of a seam. I think I forgot to purl through the back loops. I’m still learning how to intuit whether I need to twist or untwist the wraps by the way they present themselves.

This is a little basket I use to cart around my smaller knitting projects. One of the first pictures I took with the new camera. The colour is amazing.

Jeremy and I took photos of each other and they came out well enough that I dare to publish. Jeremy’s the one with the beard. The photos are totally untouched, I just cropped them a bit. You may or may not know this, but I love my fucking camera.

This is some Peace Fleece I ordered for my mom last year. She’s finally knitting with it. The idea was that she would make a sweater for herself since she’s been in love with my Everyday Cardi since I made it. So she’s making it for my sister. Yeah, I don’t get it either.

Mariah. I’m a few rows away from the hood shaping. The pattern wasn’t quite right in the yoke area; following it as written (at least for the XXL) had me shaping the hood much too soon, leaving the collar way too wide. I needed a deeper yoke anyway, so instead I’m just continuing the raglan decreases until the collar is the right size and then I’ll increase a few stitches all around to widen the hood. Once I get the hood up to the back of the top of my head, I’m going to make some double decreases up the centre to eliminate the pointy part, then I’m going to graft it shut. Wish me luck…that’s a lot of Kitchener stitch.

My cousins got a new puppy. This is Joey and he’s a Shii-Poo. I prefer cats but this puppy is just too much. I am utterly in love.

Yay, you’re wearing your bright pink jacket! You look lovely, as always (ok, i have seen you in the morning but who looks good in the morning?). I like the beard on Jeremy - he looks so manly.
Streken Roden Den, zena.
Thanks Bitch! How’s La’s Mariah coming along? I haven’t read your blog in a bit so I have no idea. ;)
Sandra, budala chupe. Yas sum nayleechna vo sabayleto, biotch!
The cake is awesome. Next time you come to Jersey we may have to celebrate your 30th all over again.
The camera takes amazing pictures. You look GORGEOUS and Jeremy looks HOT, even though you both look that way with a shitty camera, too. Enjoy it!
Happy birthday! I’m a dog person. Too many bad kitty experiences, so now I have issues with felines, BUT, that is one cute puppy! And you look smashing in that photo. How fun!
[…] I have a problem knitting the second sock of a pair and unless I cast on for it right away, it might never get knit. I still haven’t gotten back to my second blue Cherry Tree Hill sock (scroll down for a photo) or the second Koigu Waving Lace sock. […]

You know in the picture of Mariah on Knitty I thought the neckline/hood area looked wide and a bit wonky. But I’m not making that sweater so what the fuck do I know? And to extend your birthday a little longer, I’ll just say Happy Birthday Bitch!!
