I got my order from Camilla Valley yesterday…less than a week from placing it. I’m really pleased and surprised. The yarn is beautiful. Three hanks of Patience Blue are soaking in the sink with some Eucalan right now, and I’ll start knitting with it sometime tomorrow.
I also ordered some in Lena’s Meadow for my mom. She picked the colour ages ago but now she’s not sure about it. That’s fine and all, but I already freaking paid for it. I love the colour and I’d be happy to keep the yarn but I can’t exactly afford it. I’m supposed to be on a yarn ban since we just bought a car and need to pay for that. She wants me to order a different colour for her. I’m going to hit her with my vacuum instead.
I am not knitting Christmas gifts this year because of my father. Because I agreed to make him a sweater for Christmas. Because he is pathetic and whiny and gave me horrible sob story. I won’t have time to knit various other smaller gifts because I’ll be knitting Callum from Rowan’s A Season’s Tale. Since Rowanspun is out of my price range, I ordered some Peace Fleece in Patience Blue from Camilla Valley. Who knows when it’s going to get here, but once it does, all my knitting time is going to be monopolized by Calum. This better get me a leg up when the dude makes his will.
The sob story my dad gave me was about how my grandmother always promised to knit him a sweater while he was growing up. It was always postponed. She died two years ago and the sweater was never knit (she actually stopped knitting a few years before she died). He kept describing the style he wanted…a pullover with a high neck and a zipper. When I saw Calum, I showed it to my dad because I am an idiot. He started freaking out and begging me to make it for him. And I said yes.
In case you all think I’m evil and hate my dad, I’m just being sarcastic. All of the above is true, but I’m actually happy to make him the sweater. I just hope he doesn’t mind if it isn’t finished quite on time. Camilla Valley is notorious for their late shipments of Peace Fleece.
Edited to add: I might have to take that last statement back. I just called them and they were extremely friendly and told me to expect my yarn by the end of the week. I live about an hour away from there, so it’s not far to mail. We’ll see.
